Orange Papaya Sugar Scrub Review
Two Rivers Soap Company is a one woman show, based out of Des Moines, Iowa.
I received one of their Orange Papaya Sugar Scrubs in a gift basked that I won from the Happily Handmade Giveaway.
They say: "
Two Rivers innovative formula gently exfoliates dead skin cells before emulsifying itself into a lotion, allowing the scrub to rinse cleanly and moisturize the skin without leaving you feel like you've just swam through an oil slick."
Ingredients: Rice Bran OIl, Palm Kernal Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Cane Sugar, Apricot Kernal Oil, Emulsifying Wax, Stearic Acid, Polysorbate 20, Fragrance, Preservative, Colorant.
When I first opened the scrub, I was suprised at how runny the scrub was, but the scrub thickened up nicely after it was inside for a while.
I did have a little trouble closing the jar after I first opened it to smell it - and when I finally tried to use the scrub I was unable to open the lid.
This was very frustrating - I was so looking foward to using my new delicious smelling sugar scrub, and then I couldn't because I was not going to get out of the tub and go traipsing around the house trying to find a way to open the scrub.
I did get my husband to open it for me later, and so far we've solved the problem by not closing the jar all the way.
I did notice that the jar I have, and the jars that are shown on the website are not the same jar. My jar is a 5.4 oz jar with a silver lid, while the jar on the website has a black lid, and is listed as 5 oz.
Ok, back to the scrub - I really love the smell of the scrub, and it felt fabulous, although I didn't notice anything special about the scrub.
The website says the scrub "converts into a light lotion during use" but I couldn't tell much of a difference between this and my usual brown sugar/olive oil body scrub.
I do like the scrub, and I'm looking forward to using it again.
Unfortunately, at $14.00 for 5 oz, the price is more than I want to spend for a scrub on a regular basis - especially since I have so much fun making my own.
Overall, I give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars - mainly because of the price, and because of the difficulties I had opening the jar.
